Program Overview

The mathematics major provides students with a strong foundation in the mathematical sciences, key skills in computation and analysis, and grounding in mathematical theory. It cultivates in students the ability and inclination to use precise language, reason carefully, solve problems effectively, and use mathematics to advance arguments and increase understanding. Students will be equipped with critical thinking, technological skills, and communication skills to engage their next professional steps as both mathematically competent and theologically grounded individuals. Students will be prepared for graduate school in a variety of fields. In addition, by adding just one more year to their undergraduate degree, students can also earn a Master of Arts in Teaching that credentials them to teach math at the high school level.

Every undergraduate student pursuing a four-year degree at Johnson earns a double major – a major in Bible and Theology and a major of their choice, like Mathematics. Click here to learn more about the Bible and Theology major.
