Program Overview

The Business Administration major prepares students to enter the business field with purpose. At Johnson University, we take vocational preparation seriously, which is why students in our Business Administration program learn real-world best practices from faulty with industry experience. We also take our faith in Christ seriously, which is why our program is grounded in the concept of Marketplace Ministry and connects intentionally with the Bible & Theology core that all students pursue. Students grow professionally and spiritually, in and out of the classroom.

What is Marketplace Ministry?

Marketplace Ministry is the conviction that business, practiced for redemptive purposes, can serve as a powerful force in advancing the worldwide mission of Christ. Graduates from the School of Business at Johnson University are equipped to practice their vocation as a ministry, providing goods and services that promote wholeness, restoration, and flourishing in the communities they serve.

Put simply, marketplace ministry means viewing your work as a calling, something God has called you to and equipped you for. It’s a belief that every Christian’s daily work – whether in finance, marketing, management, or any other aspect of business – is not a separate part of their life from their calling as a disciple of Jesus, but that it is an expression of it. At Johnson University, we prepare students to see their careers in business as a mission field.

What careers does this program lead to?

Graduates of the business administration program have many different career options! In addition to being prepared for entry level positions in a variety of organizations and industries, students can choose to concentrate in the areas of management, marketing, entrepreneurship, and sports management. This allows students to graduate better prepared to enter more specialized roles, having studied deeper and experienced more practical training in these areas.

Students who are interested in continuing their education through graduate studies can enroll in our MBA 4+1 program , which allows students to save time and money while completing both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration. In the MBA program, students can take advantage of even more concentration options, including non-profit leadership, healthcare management, and human resource management.

All four-year Johnson students complete two majors: one in Bible and Theology and one in their chosen field, such as Business Administration. Transfer students with substantial prior coursework may complete a reduced set of Bible and Theology requirements instead of the major. Learn more about the Bible and Theology curriculum here.
