New Creation is a talented group of students who perform together throughout the year. This auditioned student musical group appears at churches around the region during Spring Break and supports campus events. Members have excellent vocal skills and may also play instruments. Additionally, these students enjoy traveling and representing Johnson University Florida. Participation in New Creation satisfies an ensemble requirement for a one-credit performance elective.
New Creation members must maintain a 2.0 GPA by the end of the fall term to be eligible for the spring tour. New Creation members must also maintain a high standard of character and integrity. Recommendations from faculty and staff are submitted prior to the tour.
Students interested in becoming part of New Creation must first complete the online application below. Auditions are held at the start of each academic year.
At the audition, students must be prepared to sing a selected performance song from memory that showcases their vocal range. Students may use recorded accompaniment or bring an accompanist with them to the audition. Students will also be asked to participate in a vocalization exercise to determine vocal parts. Auditions also include a brief interview.
Students will be notified of audition results by email. First-year New Creation members must also participate in the Campus Choir in both the fall and spring term and participate in all choral performances.
