Johnson University institutional scholarships are available to most full-time on-ground degree-seeking students. Part-time students in their final term are eligible to receive institutional scholarships on a prorated basis. Students enrolled in online undergrad programs are not eligible for institutional aid. Some graduate scholarships are available for online programs.

Some institutional aid is automatically awarded upon receiving both the FAFSA and the Johnson Financial Aid Check In. Other institutional aid requires applications. Total institutional aid may not exceed annual tuition.

The Johnson Promise

Johnson Promise is for first-time, full-time freshmen who are eligible for the Tennessee Education Lottery (HOPE) Scholarship, the Tennessee Student Assistance Award, and the maximum Pell Grant. Unlike other scholarships available to Tennessee residents, Johnson Promise provides last-dollar tuition assistance and program access.

“Last-dollar” programs consider any additional public funding or grant the student is eligible for, like a federal Pell Grant. The amount of last-dollar funding that will be provided to cover tuition and program fees will vary from student to student and will depend on other public funding for which the student is eligible. Last-dollar programs only cover the last-dollar amount of costs left over after other financial aid is applied. The Johnson Promise will only cover the last-dollar amount of tuition and program service fees. It does not pay for books or other post-secondary expenses, including but not limited to course fees, meal plan costs, late registration fees, etc.

Johnson Bridge Scholarship

Not every student qualifies for federal financial aid, and that’s okay. Your goals still matter, your story still matters, and your future still matters. At Johnson University, we believe every student deserves a real opportunity to pursue their calling, and we’re committed to helping you find a path forward.

We offer institutional scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 for students who cannot access federal aid. Students may be considered for these scholarships for a variety of reasons, including unmet federal requirements, prior federal aid issues, or citizenship and immigration circumstances that limit federal eligibility. Just like our other need‑based scholarships, including the Gap Grant, these awards are designed to open doors, remove barriers, and help you move confidently toward your future.
