Assistant Professor and Program Director of Communication Studies

Job Summary

The School of Arts and Humanities at Johnson University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor and Program Director of Communication Studies beginning fall 2027.

Successful candidates must have at least a master’s degree in Communication Studies or related field; a PhD is preferred. Responsibilities include teaching the equivalent of twenty-four hours per year, including introductory Speech courses, additional teaching in Communication Theory and courses related to the Communication Studies major, service to the university, and professional development. All teaching faculty are required to affirm the institution’s Statement of Faith and Practice and Mission Statement.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include teaching the equivalent of twenty-four hours per year, including introductory Speech courses, additional teaching in Communication Theory and courses related to the Communication Studies major, service to the university, and professional development.

    1. Describe your personal faith and Christian Including what you consider to be the most significant implications of your faith commitments.
    2. Explain how you see the relationship between a biblical perspective and your faith commitments and your scholarly discipline
    3. Provide a statement of your teaching philosophy and how it relates to instruction at a Christ-centered university.

Review of applications will begin on November 16, 2026 for the first round with second round reviews beginning on January 15, 2027.
