For years, folks have asked when JU will offer a nursing degree. We are thrilled to announce that, through a partnership with Tennessee Wesleyan University, the answer is: this fall!

Tennessee Wesleyan University is partnering with Johnson in a 2+2 program in which Johnson students can take classes at both Johnson and TWU while living on the Johnson campus all four years.

The first two years of the program will be the completion of the Associate Degree in Health Sciences with the required prerequisites for nursing. Years three and four, the students will commute to the TWU nursing school in west Knoxville for Monday and Friday classes and complete their clinical experiences in the surrounding Knoxville hospitals. After completion of the four years, students will have earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

This program will emphasize scientific excellence, spiritual formation, and service to others. These will distinguish our “Heart of Nursing” approach, which is also recognized as a needed but often missing element in many nursing programs. Program admission requirements will be kept high to build a culture of scientific excellence.
