Program Overview
The Master of Arts in Bible and Theology equips pastors, ministry leaders, and other Christians to interpret Scripture faithfully and apply its truths thoughtfully in life and ministry. Designed for those without prior formal study in Bible or theology, the program emphasizes sound exegesis, theological integration, and practical reflection. While not primarily intended as preparation for doctoral study, it develops the critical thinking and research skills essential for ongoing growth in scholarship and service.
Students with recent undergraduate preparation in biblical or theological studies may petition for up to 6 credit hours of advanced standing in the Master of Arts in Bible and Theology. Advanced standing is not automatic and is granted at the discretion of the Program Director.
To qualify, students must present undergraduate coursework completed within the last 10 years at an accredited institution with a grade of B or higher. Only 5000-level courses in the MA curriculum are eligible for waiver consideration, and syllabi or other documentation may be required. The Program Director may require up to 9 hours of relevant undergraduate coursework to justify the waiver of a single 3-credit graduate course.
Courses waived through advanced standing reduce the total required credit hours for the degree but do not carry graduate credit or appear on the graduate transcript. Petitions should be submitted at admission or during the student’s first semester.
Classes will start Fall 2027. This program is pending SACSCOC approval.
