Live Video Director

The Live Video Director produces live video and online broadcasts for major university events, worship services, and athletic events. The vision of this position is to extend the reach and impact of campus activities to constituents of the university by producing, capturing, and sharing engaging live content. Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Produce and direct multi-camera video production and online broadcasting of:
    • Major University Events
      • Commencement ceremonies
      • Homecoming
      • Festival of Christmas Joy
      • Spring Retreat
      • Senior Saints in the Smokies
      • Special services and strategic guest events
    • Campus Worship Events
      • Weekly Chapel Services
      • Student Events
      • Guest Worship Events
    • Athletic Events
      • Men’s Basketball
      • Women’s Basketball
      • Women’s Volleyball
    • Royals Live Platform/Content Management
      • Manage all content produced by and/or captured by Media Services for delivery to online platforms and network archive
  • Oversee the staff/students producing weekly chapel announcements video
  • Oversee the organization of Video Production Facilities and Equipment inventory
  • Manage, train, and mentor student technicians and volunteers

Secondary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with maintenance of computers and software systems
  • Assist with management and maintenance of work room and inventory of supplies for video production
  • Participate in the creative process and planning for campus events
  • May assist with limited tech support of various athletic activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in media communications or equivalent experience including
    certifications
  • Four years of experience including live worship, corporate, sports, and studio production
  • Live video directing/technical directing/Engineering
  • Ability to monitor and maintain live broadcast audio for appropriate loudness, dynamics,
    musicality, and tone
  • Live digital console and DAW workflows
  • Dante Protocol and basic IT networking (Dante certification preferred)
  • Understanding the use of different live production technologies (audio, video, lighting,
    projection systems) and how they integrate into a live worship production environment

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in live production or related fields
  • 3+ years of experience in a variety of live production environments including worship,
    corporate, and broadcast sports
  • Ability to execute and adapt under pressure
  • Must be willing to work an irregular schedule including evenings
  • Must be willing to provide occasional support for emergencies after-hours
  • Must be self-motivated and committed to improving one’s craft
  • Must be detail-minded and able to carry out complex tasks with precision
  • Must be able to analyze, organize, prioritize and coordinate a variety of work
    assignments
  • Must be able to communicate and delegate effectively
  • Must be service focused, proactive, self-motivated and take ownership in the big picture
    vision for events being served and duties assigned
  • Flexible and willing to adjust to rapid change
  • Excellence must be a habit

Working Conditions:

This position primarily works in the field with occasional time spent at a desk. Extended periods of standing and physical exertion are often required due to the nature of the work. High-pressure situations are common during live events that may require a rapid mental and physical response. 12+ hour days with minimal breaks are not regular but can occur. This position requires the employee to work non-business hours/days with generous schedule flexibility around events.
