Position Title: Afternoon Receptionist

Base Pay: Competitive
Classification: Hourly, Part-Time (20 hours per week)

Job Summary
The receptionist is often the first person or voice that greets the public; thus, the first impression is extremely important. The receptionist will receive a wide variety of inquiries and needs good interpersonal skills. It is essential that the receptionist become familiar with the campus, programs, and personnel.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain the afternoon hours of the P/W receptionist desk
- Desk is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., plus other hours as may be needed for special events
- The afternoon receptionist is to see that all of the afternoon hours (1-5 p.m.) are covered
- All changes to the normal schedule must be cleared with the supervisor
- Welcome guests and answer various questions
- Answer telephone calls quickly and courteously, transfer calls to the appropriate office or put on hold, and quickly/courteously return to answer other calls
- Send and receive faxes
- Receive payments and balance the cash drawer daily and submit reconciliation reports to Cashier
- Help with the process of managing work-study timesheets, sending notification of errors to employees, sorting supervisor time sheets, and managing returned time sheets
- Help with the stuffing of student refund checks for distribution
- Other clerical duties as may be assigned by the business office
Qualifications
- Education/training/related experience
- High school diploma or equivalency
- 1-3 years office experience preferred
- Skill Requirements
- Knowledge of business telephone etiquette
- Ability to use professionalism in communicating details of the college operations, ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and security
- Ability to provide information to individuals by telephone and in person in a courteous manner
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the public, students, and faculty/staff
- Good organizational skills with a strong attention to detail including the ability to follow up on missing data or to clarify issues
- Computer skills with preference in Excel and Outlook
- Honest and trustworthy
Working Conditions
This position is primarily sedentary, working at a desk in a climate-controlled office. Some standing or walking will be required to maintain files and obtain information.
