Job Summary
This is a part-time 30 hour a week position. The position will begin January 2021 and continue through May 2021. The Interim ECLC Assistant Teacher will work closely with the Lead Teacher learning all aspects of the ECLC to become the interim lead teacher when the ECLC Lead Teacher goes on maternity leave.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the dean, director, and ECLC lead teacher:
- Act as a teaching assistant to the lead teacher
- Provide oversight of work-study students
- Act as lead teacher when the lead teacher is absent and on leave
- All other assigned duties
Working Conditions
- Occasional office work
- Getting up and down from the floor multiple times a day
- Prolonged standing
- Supervising children on the playground
- Lifting of children
- Sitting at child-size tables for activities
- Cleaning child-made messes and accidents
- Communicating with parents
- Flexible hours, some nights and evenings might be required for special occasions
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- BS in Education (early education preferred)
- Experience working with children
- Child-development knowledge
- CPR and first aid certified (JU will provide necessary training)
- Computer skills in Office programs
- Leadership ability
- Good communication skills with adults and children
- Willingness to complete TCOTS Online Training (DHS required training)
