The M.A. program in Post-Baccalaureate Secondary Education with Grades 6-12 Licensure in Biology, Chemistry, Economics, English, Geography, Government, History, Mathematics, or Physics introduces students who completed a bachelor’s degree in a field other than education to the fundamentals of teaching in the secondary school. Students receive instruction in lesson preparation and presentation, classroom management, integration of a biblical worldview and application of biblical knowledge to the teaching profession, the development and implementation of curriculum, and current trends in education. They apply these skills during a term-long student teaching experience under the mentorship of expert teachers. Successful completion of the program leads to licensure from the Tennessee State Board of Education; certification by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI); and a Master of Arts degree from Johnson University.

Students must hold a bachelor’s degree with a major in their chosen field (Biology, Chemistry, Economics, English, Geography, Government, History, Mathematics, or Physics) in order to receive licensure in that field.
