Adjunct Professor of Animation

The School of Communication and Creative Arts at Johnson University is recruiting applicants for two part-time Adjunct Professors of Animation, one located at our Tennessee campus and one located at our Florida campus.

Location: Knoxville, Tennessee or Kissimmee, Florida
Hiring Salary Range:  Commensurate with education and experience
Appointment: Beginning Fall 2020 Semester

Job Summary

We are seeking an individual to teach animation courses which are part of a multi-disciplinary degree in Visual Production and Design. In this program, students learn video production, graphic design, animation, and web design. Adjunct faculty work with the program coordinator to ensure sequential student outcomes are achieved.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master of Fine Arts degree in digital media or a related field.

  • Four semesters of full-time college-level experience teaching digital media courses, with a record of excellence.
  • Experience teaching 2D and/or 3D concepts.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard software, languages (Animate, Toon Boom, Maya, 3D Studio Max, ZBrush, Blender, etc).
  • Knowledge of traditional design principles and theory and contemporary issues and emerging platforms in visual communication.
  • Evidence of a strong professional practice in animation.
  • Experience using technology to enhance instruction, manage classroom administrative tasks, and communicate effectively with the campus community.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills as well as a collaborative approach to working with students and colleagues.
  • All teaching faculty are required to affirm the institution’s statement of faith, mission statement, and community covenant.
