Accounts Payable Clerk

Johnson University Florida invites applications for a part-time Accounts Payable Clerk. Reports to: Johnson University Tennessee Accountant
Classification: Part-time, hourly, no benefits

Job Summary

The Accounts Payable Clerk will assist with the overall financial operations of the Florida campus, including processing of all invoices. The position serves as support staff to the JUTN business office. The Accounts Payable Clerk must possess training or experience in formal office settings, understand the protocol of educational institutions, and possess the necessary skills deemed appropriate by the accountant to carry out the jobs assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • 3-4 years general accounting experience preferred

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate all check requests and monitor for accuracy
  • Manage and process all vendor invoices and ensure integrity of all payments
  • Maintain and process all monthly credit card statements including gas cards
  • Maintain proper fixed assets lists
  • Scan checks, prepare bank deposits, and take cash to the bank
  • Assist cashier/receptionist with issuing purchase orders if needed
  • Keep orderly files and all supporting documentation
  • Assist and support in the annual audit function
  • Have knowledge of all the duties of the cashier/reception area and assist when necessary, including training and answering telephone
  • Perform other duties as determined appropriate by the accountant/VP for Finance in the work fulfillment of the business office

  • Strong computer skills with preference in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and accounting software

Working Conditions

This position is primarily sedentary, working at a desk in a climate-controlled office.  Some standing or walking will be required to maintain files and obtain information.
