Henan Xinyang Normal University
Founded in 1975, Xinyang Normal University(XYNU) was at the time a sub-college in Xinyang City affiliated with the then Kaifeng Teachers’ College (the present Henan University). Occupying an area of over 100 hectares and a floor space of 600,000 square meters, Xinyang Normal University (XYNU) is located in Xinyang in south Henan, adjacent to Anhui to the east and Hubei the north, posing as a key city among the Hubei-Henan-Anhui area and strategically positioned between the Yangtze and Huaihe rivers.
With 19 colleges (one independent college and three teaching and researching sections directly under the university), XYNU provides bachelor’s degrees in 65 programs, master’s degrees in nine first-level and 67 second-level disciplines. XYNU now has a total of 23,000 students from 27 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions throughout China.
In June 2016, President Gary Weedman visited Xinyang Normal University and signed an international memorandum of cooperation with the president of XYNU concerning faculty and student exchange. Johnson University now offers the Master of Arts in Educational Technology program to the students in XYNU.
