Dr. Tommy Smith publishes updated book on the history of Johnson University

Book cover photoThis week, president-elect Dr. Tommy Smith releases the updated and expanded edition of his book, Above Every Other Desire: A History of Johnson University, 1893-2018.

Based on the centennial history of Johnson Bible College published in 1993, Dr. Smith has produced a significantly different narrative of the history of Johnson University in celebration of the school’s one hundred and twenty-fifth year. He has added material on Emma Johnson, completely rewritten the chapter on President Eubanks, and added a new Preface, a chapter on the Weedman years, a brief history of Florida Christian College and the transition to Johnson University Florida, and an Epilogue. There are also updated and new appendices. This “Silver Anniversary Edition” is essential reading for those interested in the history and mission of Johnson University. Dr. Smith has served Johnson University for 29 years as professor, dean, and provost. He will become the seventh president of Johnson on July 1, 2018.

The book is available in JU's bookstore, at Amazon, and at University events including the NACC and the Vanguard Tour.
