Master of Arts Post-Baccalaureate
The Post-Baccalaureate Master’s program offered by Johnson University’s Templar School of Education is specifically designed for adults with an existing bachelor's degree that is not specific to education. This program trains future teachers to enter the elementary, middle school, or secondary classroom as a licensed teacher. Students receive instruction in lesson preparation and presentation, classroom management, integration of a biblical worldview and application of biblical knowledge to the teaching profession, the development and implementation of curriculum, and current trends in education. They apply these skills during a semester-long student teaching experience under the mentorship of expert teachers. Successful completion of the program leads to licensure from the Tennessee State Board of Education; certification by the Association of Christian Schools, International (ACSI); and a Master of Arts degree from Johnson University.
The Post-Baccalaureate Master’s program provides an affordable and accredited education taught by an experienced and engaged faculty that is passionate about each student’s success. The 14-month hybrid program includes online and face-to-face courses. This format allows students to work full time while attending classes in the evenings and on Saturday mornings until student teaching begins.
