The Intercultural Studies Major prepares Christian men and women for strategic, cross-cultural, and missional vocations among all peoples in accordance with God’s kingdom gospel.
Students in the Intercultural Studies major will benefit from Johnson’s accreditation, affordable tuition, and an experienced and engaged faculty dedicated to the spiritual formation and professional preparedness of each student. Both the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degree coursework integrate a Bible & Theology Core and an Arts & Sciences Core.
Bachelor of Arts degrees usually include 12 or more credits of foreign language study, while Bachelor of Science degrees include additional Natural Science (like Biology and Science Concepts) and Social and Behavioral Science courses (like Psychology and Economics). Students also apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world settings through professional internships.
The B.A. in Intercultural Studies offers concentrations in Chinese Studies, Latin American & Latino Studies, Linguistics, English as a Second Language (ESL)/English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Education, Islamic Studies, Missions, and Urban Studies. The B.S. program offers concentrations in ESL/EFL Education, Islamic Studies, Missions and Urban Studies.
The Intercultural Studies major is also offered online, and an Intercultural Studies minor is available at Johnson’s Tennessee, Florida, and online campuses.
When students complete this program, they will be able to do the following:
- Articulate biblical, theological, and missiological foundations for their chosen ministry field.
- Implement missional ministry within world contexts.
- Pursue Christian formational growth conducive to cross-cultural ministry.
