Preaching & Church Leadership
God extends His kingdom through His church—communities of Christ-followers empowered by the Spirit to reach their communities and the world. Such churches need passionate, visionary leaders, who are gifted and trained to preach, teach, administer, strategize, and provide pastoral care. The Preaching & Church Leadership Major prepares students to lead churches and other ministries in this manner.
Students will benefit from Johnson’s accreditation, affordable tuition, and an experienced and engaged faculty passionate about each student’s success. Both the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degree coursework integrate a Bible & Theology Core and an Arts & Sciences Core. Bachelor of Arts degrees usually include 12 or more credits of foreign language study, while Bachelor of Science degrees include additional Natural Science (like Biology and Science Concepts) and Social and Behavioral Science courses (like Psychology and Economics). Students also apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world settings through professional internships.
When students complete this program, they will be able to do the following:
Model the spiritual maturity of a Christ-like servant-leader necessary for kingdom work.
Equip local congregations for kingdom mission through preaching and teaching the Scriptures with depth and sensitivity to the needs of the local congregation.
Prepare the local congregation for kingdom mission through pastoral ministry, congregational development, and leadership.
