Johnson University is a place of uncommon community, growth, and mission, and over the next five years our Uncommon Community campaign will focus on strategic initiatives that will connect our students, improve our campuses, and enhance our community in new ways. Tennessee’s Athletic & Recreation Complex will offer opportunities for physical fitness, sportsmanship, and personal growth, while The Commons on the Florida campus will make it possible for students to participate in a meal plan, enjoy meals together in a beautiful dining hall, and gather for study and socializing.
Best of all, we’re doing it together – churches, alumni, and friends of both campuses will partner to make these plans a reality. Our funding, as well as our facilities, will model the uncommon community that has marked Johnson University for 125 years.
The Athletic and Recreation Complex will include basketball and tennis courts; soccer, baseball, and softball fields; a 10-lane competition swimming pool; a fitness center; and a student center with a café, a game room, and other spaces for fellowship, recreation, and study. This new facility will become a hub for student life on campus, building a community of students and faculty who are growing physically, relationally, and spiritually.

The Commons will include a full kitchen and dining space with buffet-style meals; social space for students; a private dining room for special events; a café with a coffee shop; homework and study areas; a covered outdoor space; and a landscaped plaza. The Commons will develop a new focus for the JUFL campus, creating spaces for students to enjoy healthy meals, build strong friendships, and grow as a community.
