Graduate Certificate in Translation
The Graduate Certificate in Translation is especially designed for students who already have prior bachelor’s degrees, often having seminary education as well, but do not have a background in translation. Students will complete twenty-one credits (7 courses) with a 2.5 cumulative grade point average in the Translation concentration core of the M.A. in Intercultural Studies. The Graduate Certificate in Translation develops foundational skill for implementing effective Bible translation work. The certificate develops skills for implementing effective translation techniques across cultural boundaries when added to biblical language and other Biblical and cultural studies.
When students complete this program, they will be able to do the following:
- Exercise appropriate techniques across cultural boundaries.
- Demonstrate the ability to appropriately use translation theories and practices for effective bible translation in a cross-cultural setting.
- Remain committed to studying Bible-less languages around the world, interacting with speakers of these languages, and translating and developing written Scriptures and other works.
- Demonstrate the ability to produce usable bible translation portions.
