New Soccer Coach for JUFL

Shan Wood New JUFL Soccer CoachJohnson University Florida is pleased to announce alumnus Shan Wood (’94) will be joining the coaching staff as our men’s soccer coach. 

Coach Wood played on the varsity squad of University at Buffalo SUNY (NCAA Division II) for two years as a defender.  He served our country for five years as a Helicopter Air Crewman and Rescue Swimmer in the United States Navy.  During his time in the Navy, Coach Wood played on multiple teams representing his squadron and base.

Coach Wood is married to his wife of 26 years and has three children (one attends JUFL).  Coach Wood spent eight years coaching in club soccer within Central Florida.  Currently he serves as the senior minister of First Christian Church of Orlando. He has been serving there for 13 years.

Athletic Director, Doug Johnson, says, “Coach Wood is a perfect fit  to build our men’s soccer program.  He knows who we are as an institution and he knows the game of soccer!”

As Coach Wood joins the staff of Johnson University Florida Athletics he says, “I love the game.  I love the University.  This is a great opportunity and I am so excited to see this begin at JUFL.”
