Certificate in Biblical Interpretation
The Graduate Certificate in Biblical Interpretation enables students who already hold bachelor’s degrees in fields other than Bible or religion to do serious study of the Bible, usually with a ministry purpose in mind, without pursuing a degree. This affordable 15-hour program will equip students with the skills and resources they need to effectively study and interpret Scripture without necessarily pursuing a full degree program online.
Students have four years to complete the requirements for the certificate. Two of the five courses required for the certificate are also preliminary courses which non-Bible university graduates take to prepare them for the Master of Arts in New Testament program. A student who earns a GPA of 3.0 in four of the certificate courses may apply for admission to the master’s degree program.
When students complete this program, they will be able to do the following:
Use general and specialized resources for biblical studies.
Use standard methods to interpret the biblical text.
For a comprehensive list regarding program goals and objectives, see the catalog.
To complete 15 credits for the Graduate Certificate curriculum, students take the courses below plus their choice of two additional courses from the New Testament core curriculum. All courses will be offered online. No transfer credits are accepted for the program.
