New Creation is a talented group of students who perform together throughout the year.
This auditioned student musical group appears at churches around the region during Spring Break and supports campus events. Members have excellent vocal skills and may also play instruments. Additionally, these students enjoy traveling and representing Johnson University Florida.
Participation in New Creation satisfies an ensemble requirement for a one-credit performance elective (MUAP 1925).
New Creation members must maintain a 2.0 GPA by the end of the fall term to be eligible for the spring tour. New Creation members must also maintain a high standard of character and integrity. Recommendations from faculty and staff are submitted prior to the tour.
Joining New Creation
Students interested in becoming part of New Creation must first complete the online application form. Auditions are held at the start of each academic year and are scheduled by way of the application form.
At the audition, students must be prepared to sing a selected performance song from memory that showcases your vocal range. Students may use recorded accompaniment or bring an accompanist with them to the audition. Students will also be asked to participate in a vocalization exercise to determine vocal parts. Auditions also include a brief interview.
Students will be notified of audition results by email. First year New Creation members must also participate in the Campus Choir in both the fall and spring term and participate in all choral performances. Students taking Campus Choir for credit will not be charged any additional fees. Students not taking Campus Choir or New Creation for credit must pay student choral dues ($30). Second-year members are required to participate in a third term of Campus Choir.
Auditions on August 19, Friday, from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm (11:30 – 2:00 are reserved auditions times for incoming new or transfer students)
