In an official statement on March 2, Johnson University President Dr. Gary Weedman announced the appointment of Dr. Michael Chambers as Johnson University Florida’s Chancellor and Vice Provost, Elect.
The appointment will be effective June 1, 2015, until the August Convocation in Florida, after which he will be Chancellor and Vice Provost. As his title indicates, Dr. Chambers will serve as chief administrative officer and oversee academics on the Florida campus.
I know of no person more qualified than Dr. Michael Chambers to follow Dr. David Eubanks as the head of Johnson University Florida. Dr. Chambers has extensive experience in congregational ministry as well as college teaching and administration. He served twenty-seven years on the Florida campus in various teaching and administrative roles. We eagerly welcome his return to a place dear to his heart.

“Now is the time for a new leader who will work with President Weedman in guiding Johnson University Florida in the years ahead,” said Dr. David Eubanks. Dr. Eubanks served as President of Johnson University from 1969 to 2007 and was called out of retirement to lead the Florida campus when it merged with Johnson University in 2013.
Dr. Chambers and his wife, Pamela, are the proud and active parents of three children and seven grandchildren. “I look forward to working with President Weedman and the administrative staff to honor and advance the Great Commission vision of Johnson University,” said Dr. Chambers.
Dr. Eubanks, who has been serving as Chief Operating Officer, is now Chancellor and Vice Provost of Johnson University Florida until the August convocation. After the August convocation, he will be Chancellor-Emeritus.
