Credit for Prior Learning, Experience, and Training

Adult students are eligible to receive credit for past learning, life experience, and professional training. A Johnson advisor can talk with students about the possibilities below. More information about each opportunity can be found in the college catalog.

  • Credit by Transfer: Johnson accepts credits from other accredited colleges, universities, and vocational and technical schools.
  • Credit by Demonstrated Competency (CDC): Students can receive credit by demonstrating to Johnson faculty that they have learned university-level competencies outside of the traditional classroom through life experience and/or professional training.
  • College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST): Students who pass CLEP and DSST exams in particular subject areas earn credit and meet Johnson requirements for those subject areas.

Credit for Military Training: Johnson University evaluates military training courses for transfer possibilities according to the American Council on Education’s (ACE) Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services.
